WHAT:Leadership Academy 2001: Building Our Capacity for a Better Tomorrow

WHEN: 8:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15

WHERE: Connell Student Center, Mercer University, 1400 Coleman Ave., Macon.

WHY: Leaders in community groups, faith-based organizations and charities will have the opportunity to receive training on a number of topics, including federal funding, standards and ethics, marketing, conflict mediation, leadership, communication, churches and public policy, connecting with local governments, starting a 501(c)3 organization, grant writing and use of technology. The luncheon speaker will be Fred Watson, founder of Victory Over Violence.

The daylong event is open to public. The registration fee is $35, and participants can register in advance by calling (478) 301-5332.
