Master Teacher Parker Palmer

WHO: Parker J. Palmer, Ph.D. in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley – writer, teacher and activist who works independently on issues in education, community, leadership, spirituality and social change. His work spans a range of institutions: colleges and universities, public schools, community organizations, religious institutions, corporations and foundations.

WHAT: Lecture on “Let Your Life Speak: Education, Vocation and the Needs of the World.”

WHEN: 10 a.m., Monday, March 31

WHERE: Newton Chapel, Mercer University, 1400 Coleman Ave.

WHY: Author of the widely-read book, The Courage to Teach, Dr. Palmer has been challenging students and professors across the country to think more deeply about teaching and vocation. Palmer travels extensively giving workshops, lectures and retreats. He has often been cited as a master teacher. Recognized by awards from the Danforth Foundation, the Lilly Endowment and the Fetzer Institute, Palmer’s work includes Let Your Life Speak, The Active Life, To Know as We are Known, The Company of Strangers and The Promise of Paradox.
