Dr. William Freund to Speak at Executive Forum

Chief Economist Emeritus for the New York Stock Exchange William Freund will speak at Mercer University’s Executive Forum Thursday, Nov. 20. He will give a breakfast presentation at 7:30 a.m. in the Religious Life Center on the Mercer University Macon campus and a lunch presentation at noon in the Trustees Dining Room on Mercer’s Atlanta campus 

The Executive Forum is a business outreach program of Mercer University’s Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and the Office of Advancement. Entering its 24th year, The Executive Forum provides business professionals with an opportunity to hear nationally noted speakers on business trends while networking with other business leaders.

In his presentation titled “The Outlook of Business and Productivity: A Wall Street Perspective,” Freund gives a comprehensive analysis of the trends molding the future of American business, with useful insights for business and investors.
 
Known for his economic expertise and well-developed sense of humor, Freund has served as the chief economist emeritus for the New York Stock Exchange for 18 years. The New York Times called him the “unique economist” because he “knows the practical world of business and finance as well as the world of research and academia.”
 
Freund earned his doctorate in economics from Columbia University and serves as an economics professor at Pace University in New York City, where he also directs the Freund Center for Study of Securities Markets. A widely-recognized authority on the domestic and international economy, the financial markets and the study of productivity and competitiveness, Freund is author of the best-selling book Investment Fundamentals and co-author of the book People and Productivity.
 
He has served as a financial adviser to various businesses as well as governmental and financial institutions, and his report Productivity and Inflation was published by the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress.
