Tribute to Rehberg Set for Law Day Weekend

MACON, Ga. — A tribute to Law School professor James C. Rehberg, AB ’40, JD ’48, will be held Friday, March 5, 6:30 p.m., at the Macon City Auditorium.
 
Robert E. (Bob) Hicks, BA ’50, LLB ’51, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event while professor Rehberg will be toasted by other distinguished alumni including: Charles R. Adams III, BA ’80, JD ’83; the Honorable Griffin B. Bell, LLB ’48; Manley R. Brown, LLB ’65; Leah F. Chanin, LLB ’54; Hugh B. McNatt, BA ’69, JD ’72; Richard A. (Doc) Schneider, JD ’81; and Robert L. (Bob) Steed, LLB ’61.
 
After he obtained his law degree from Mercer in 1948, he returned to teaching high school until he became Law School librarian in 1949. He landed a full-time teaching job at the Law School in 1954. Rehberg spent a year as assistant dean in 1976-77, technically retired in 1998, but has continued to teach one course each semester.
 
Law Day Weekend activities include the annual Law Day Luncheon March 5, 12:30 p.m., at the Macon City Auditorium, a cookout on the Quad March 6 and reunion events for the classes of 1949, ’54, ’59, ’64, ’69, ’74, ’79, ’84, ’89, ’94 and ’99.
