Students to Hold ‘Take Back the Night’

WHO: Mercer Students
 
WHAT: Vicki Currin from the Crisis Line of Middle Georgia will address students; the Interfraternity Council will present Currin with a donation for the Crisis Line; then students will hold a candlelight ceremony in awareness of violence against women, children and families and to show the power individuals have to prevent such violence.
 
WHEN: Thursday, March 4. Vicki Currin will speak at 7 p.m., with the check presentation to immediately follow. The candlelight ceremony will begin at 8 p.m.
 
WHERE: The speech and check presentation will be in the Mercer Willet Science Center Lecture Hall. The candlelight ceremony will be in the Quad (the grassy area behind the Administration Building off Coleman Avenue).
 
BACKGROUND: “Take Back The Night” is an international event organized by local communities and colleges. Tonight’s event is in conjunction with Rape Awareness Week, sponsored by Mercer’s Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, QuadWorks, Student Government Association and Women’s and Gender Studies Department.
