MACON, GA- Six student delegates from Mercer University’s student programming board, QuadWorks, attended the 2004 National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) South Regional Conference in Winston-Salem, N.C. During the conference, QuadWorks was honored with the Outstanding Delegation Award and runner-up for the Board of Excellence Award.
The student delegates present at the conference to receive the award on behalf of Mercer were: Amanda Varley, Naicie Roper, Rosalyn Brown, Jamanda Turner, Katie Harrell and Leslie Lester.
The Outstanding Delegation Award is awarded to the delegations that excel in the following areas: volunteering, participating in educational opportunities, participating in group booking and co-op opportunities, showcasing school spirit, attending the campus activities marketplace, and attending talent showcases.
The Board of Excellence Award recognizes the best activities boards in the NACA South Region. In order to compete for this award, the board was required to fill out a written application and submit supporting materials which included recommendations, budgets, event calendars, and organizational descriptions. The applications were reviewed and the nominees were narrowed down to four finalists. As finalists, the QuadWorks delegates were required to plan a themed week of activities (similar to homecoming) and make an oral presentation to a panel of judges.
NACA is the nation’s largest collegiate organization for campus activities, with programs and services designed to reflect the field’s increased responsibilities for student leadership development as well as entertainment programming. NACA’s activities and services link the higher education and entertainment communities, providing a unique forum for business and professional development, information exchange and networking.
