The Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University has received excellent returns based on graduates' success and faculty expertise.

Graduates of the Mercer Law School taking the most recent bar exam for the first time had a higher passage rate than any of the other law schools in Georgia. Mercer Law School graduates recorded a 94.2 percent passage on the exam in July, better than graduates from the other American Bar Association (ABA) approved University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Emory University.

The 94.2 percent passage rate was significantly better than the overall pass rate of 87.4 percent for all those who were taking the exam for the first time.  The results were recently released by the Office of Bar Admissions.

"We are very pleased with the outstanding performance of the Mercer Law School graduates who took the Georgia Bar Exam for the first time in July," said Dean Daisy Floyd. "That more than 94 percent of our graduates passed the Bar on their first attempt is evidence of the excellent quality of students at the Mercer Law School and is also a tribute to the faculty, staff, and resources that prepared them for the practice of law."

In another announcement, the Mercer Law Faculty was ranked seventh in the nation by The Princeton Review on its top 10 list entitled "Faculty Rocks (Legally Speaking)." The ranking, contained in the on-line version of The Best 117 Law Schools, 2005 Edition, is based on responses from student surveys on two ratings: the quality of teaching and the accessibility of faculty.

On a scale of 60-99, Mercer students rated the quality of teaching by law faculty at 92.  On the same scale, Mercer students rank the accessibility of their faculty at 97.

Dean Floyd added, "For some 130 years, the Mercer Law School has sought to provide its students through an outstanding faculty and resources with the background and training needed to assure their success in the legal community. The success of Mercer lawyers in communities throughout the Southeast and elsewhere attests to that commitment."
