Mercer Basketball Player to Compete Live on ESPN

MACON, Ga.-  Mercer senior forward Wesley Duke has been invited to compete in the Slam Dunk portion of  ESPN’s Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships.

The Norcross native will travel to St. Louis, Mo., Wednesday, March 30. The competition will take place on the campus of Washington University on Thursday, March 31.   

ESPN’s Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships invite the top 24 senior dunkers (8), and men’s (8) and women’s (8) three-point shooters in the country. This is the 17th annual event, which is held in the Final Four host city each year.

This is a nationally-televised event on ESPN on Thursday night (March 31) leading into Final Four weekend, and will air several additional times throughout the weekend. The show airs from 9 -11 p.m.

Past participants and champions now playing in the NBA include Desmond Mason, Nick Van Exel, Gary Payton, Freddie Jones (last year’s NBA slam dunk champion) and Kyle Korver (finished 3rd in last year’s NBA 3-Point Shootout).
