ATLANTA – Haley Marie Moncrief Herrick of Loganville received the top student honor in the Master of Education program of Tift College of Education of Mercer University. The award was presented at commencement on Saturday, May 21, on the University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta.
Mercer University President R. Kirby Godsey and Tift College of Education Dean Carl R. Martray presented Herrick with the 2005 Outstanding Master of Education Student Award. Herrick graduated with the master of education degree and a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. Herrick created the “Project Promise” program at DeKalb County’s Idlewood Elementary School in Tucker, where she is a teacher. This program brings parents into the classroom to serve as tutors.
She is the wife of David A. Herrick, the daughter of Randy and Wanda Moncrief of Jackson, and the daughter-in-law of Arlen and Helen Herrick of Snellville. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Mercer University in 2001.
