McDonough— On Saturday, Aug. 20, Mercer University will offer a preparation workshop for the Praxis I exam at its Regional Academic Center in Henry County, 160 Henry Pky., McDonough (near the Henry County Administration Building).
The workshop will focus on the verbal section of the exam and be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The first step to becoming a teacher in Georgia is to take and pass the Praxis I exam.
The Praxis I Verbal Workshop is designed to give individuals hands-on practice at taking the reading and writing sections of the Praxis. Participants in the workshop will learn a variety of strategies and approaches that will help them tackle reading comprehension and on-the-spot essay writing with confidence. Sample readings, questions and essay prompts will be analyzed. In addition, the instructor will give a refresher of grammar basics.
