Statue of Jesse Mercer on the Mercer campus.

WHO: Mercer University first-year engineering students

WHAT: Students are designing and constructing vehicles using a K’Nex based building kit to compete in the following categories: tugboats-o-war, amphibious, cable car, rampster and tug-o-war.

WHEN: 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, April 21

WHERE: University Center on Mercer’s Macon Campus

WHY: The students enrolled in EGR 107 – Introduction to Engineering Design – have been designing and building vehicles using K’Nex building kits. These vehicles will compete in a variety of events at the School of Engineering. Each design category will have five to seven design teams competing. This is a fun and challenging way for students to put their designs to the test and learn the skills necessary to succeed in the engineering field.

There will be many opportunities for video and photos. Media interested in doing interviews with students or professors or getting still photographs or video should contact Mark Vanderhoek at (478) 301-4037 or (478) 952-5514.
