MACON – Bethany Marie Rezek received the George Waldo Woodruff Award of Excellence – the Walter F. George School of Law of Mercer University’s top honor at commencement May 12 in the Macon City Auditorium.
At the time of her graduation from the Law School, Rezek became a double graduate of Mercer University, having already completed her undergraduate degree in 2003. Rezek earned a bachelor of arts at Mercer, with a major in political science and minors in English and women and gender studies, graduating summa cum laude with a grade point average of 3.973.
As an undergraduate student, she gained valuable experience in legal proceedings serving as chief justice of the Mercer University Judicial System from 2000 to 2003. The Jonesboro native continued her excellent academic success at the Walter F. George School of Law and is graduating magna cum laude – first in the 2006 class among 125 graduates.
At the Mercer Law School, she served as administrative editor of the Mercer Law Review; student coach and member of the Vale Corporate Team of the Moot Court Board; and Concerns Chair of the Student Bar Association.
Rezek, who attended Law School as a Woodruff Scholarship recipient, earned Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction’s (CALI) Excellence for the Future Awards for the highest grade in 10 courses, made the Dean’s List, became a finalist in the Hugh Lawson First Year Oral Argument Competition and was a member of the Association of Women Law Students.
She will join the law firm of King & Spalding in Atlanta this fall. She served as a summer associate for King & Spalding during the summer of 2005. Previously, she served as a law clerk for Sell & Melton in Macon during the summers of 2003 and 2004.
