MACON — Mercer University’s Indian Culture Exchange will host its first-ever Diwali Nite Dance Competition beginning at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 at The Grand Opera House, 651 Mulberry St., Macon. The event, dubbed Rangoli 2006, will feature a dance competition, consisting of dances, skits and a few special performances.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $9 in advance for Mercer faculty, staff and students ($10 at the door – Bear Card must be presented), $12 for non-Mercer advance purchases and $15 at the door for non-Mercer attendees.
This is the first major event hosted by Mercer ICE, which was constituted last year as an organization to provide a central structure for the unification of Indian Americans and International Students of Indian decent at Mercer, as well as anyone who’s interested in learning more about the Indian culture. The organization provides for cultural exchange and education opportunities with the community, along with engagement in community service.
