ATLANTA — The Rev. Tony Campolo, Ph.D., founder and president of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, will headline the Conference on Ethics in Ministry entitled “How To Be A Better Minister,” Oct. 12-13, on Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta, 3001 Mercer University Drive. The conference is designed for theology students and ministers and is presented by Mercer’s James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology and Christian Ethics Today.
Other program participants will be Dr. David Sapp, senior pastor of Second-Ponce de Leon Baptist Church in Atlanta; Michael F. Thurman, pastor of Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala.; Julie Pennington-Russell, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas; Joe Trull, editor of Christian Ethics Today, and Dr. Larry McSwain, professor of ethics and leadership at the McAfee School of Theology.

Campolo is professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University in St. Davids, Penn. He previously served for 10 years on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania. A graduate of Eastern College, he earned a Ph.D. from Temple University.
Campolo has worked to create, nurture and support programs for “at-risk” children in cities across North America, and has helped establish schools and universities in several developing countries.
The author of 32 books, his most recent titles are Speaking My Mind, Which Jesus, The Church Enslaved, co-authored by Michael Battle (Augsburg), Let Me Tell You a Story: Life Lessons From Unexpected Places and Unlikely People (WORD); The Survival Guide for Christians on Campus, co-authored by Will Willimon (Howard).
Campolo, an ordained minister, has served American Baptist Churches in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and is presently recognized as an associate pastor of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church in West Philadelphia.
