LITHIA SPRINGS — Mercer University’s Douglas County Regional Academic Center will hold a free information session, beginning at 7 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 14, for individuals considering applying for the spring 2007 session, which begins Jan. 8. Adults interested in earning a bachelor’s degree through the Center’s evening and weekend programs will have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors, professors and admissions counselors.

The session will begin with a presentation by admissions counselors, after which program coordinators and professors will lead small-group informational discussions on the different programs at the center. Academic advisors, coordinators, professors and admissions counselors will be available to answer questions.

Located off Thornton Road, just south of Interstate 20, Mercer’s Douglas County Center is designed specifically with an evening and weekend format for adult learners who want to begin or complete a bachelor’s degree at one of the nation’s top universities. Classes are held one evening per week or on Saturdays in eight-week sessions. Financial aid is available for students who attend half time or more.

Three of the University’s 11 schools and colleges have degree programs at the Douglas County location. Tift College of Education provides initial teacher certification in early childhood/special education and middle grades for individuals who already hold bachelor’s degrees in non-education fields, as well as a bachelor of science in education degree in those specialties. The College of Continuing and Professional Studies has undergraduate programs in criminal justice, human services, information systems and liberal studies, with a degree-completion program in organization leadership. For students interested in business, Stetson School of Business and Economics, which holds the highest level of accreditation for business education with AACSB International, offers the bachelor of business administration degree.

The spring session priority application deadline is Dec. 8. Applications may be submitted online at www.mercerdegree.com. Official education transcripts are required for admission.
