MACON — Mercer’s Alpha Delta Pi sorority kicks of its major philanthropic fund-raising event of the year tonight. The second annual Hoops ’n Hogs, a barbecue and student basketball tournament to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House, begins at 4:30 p.m. when the Basketball Tournament tips off.

The tournament continues on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. The tournament’s championship game will be played during halftime of the annual Coaches vs. Cancer men’s basketball exhibition between Mercer and Georgia College and State University on Thursday. The Coaches vs. Cancer game tips off at 7 p.m.

Before the Coaches vs. Cancer game, the sorority will hold a barbecue on Porter Patch from 5 to 7 p.m. Musical guest Nu Nu, a hip-hop and R&B group, will provide entertainment during the event. To purchase tickets to the barbecue or raffle, see a sorority member or visit the ADPi table in the Connell Student Center. Tickets to the barbecue are $4 and raffle tickets are $1. The raffle will be held at the barbecue and one does not have to be present to win. Raffle prizes include gift certificates to Target, McAllister’s, Cheddars, Stevie B’s, Kroger, Bear’s Den, and more.

The champions of the basketball tournament win four tickets to an Atlanta Thrashers game.  Each ticket is valued at $70.
