Law School Team Advances to National Competition

The Mercer University Walter G. George School of Law National Moot Court Team won the Region 5, National Moot Court Competition Nov. 18 at the Richard Russell Building, United States District Courthouse, in Atlanta. The Mercer Law School also captured the best brief award and Tiffany Williams, a Mercer law student, was named the best oralist in the final round. The team is composed of Barton Black, of Houston, Texas; Mary Weeks of Phenix City, Ala., and Williams, of Macon. Madison Roberts serves as student coach and Professor Reynold Kosek serves as faculty coach.
 
“Our Mercer team performed admirably against an outstanding field of competitors,” Kosek said of his team’s success. “I am very proud of Barton, Mary, and Tiffany who worked tirelessly to bring honor to Mercer University. Our moot court program is supported by a vast group of administrators, faculty, staff, students and alumni who give generously to ensure the success of our teams. We welcome the opportunity to represent Mercer University at the national championship rounds of competition in New York.”
 
The team will advance to the national championship Jan. 29-Feb. 1, 2007, in New York City.
