Bears Battle Lipscomb in First Round of Atlantic Sun Championship

CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION


Mercer’s men’s basketball team, the number five seed in the Atlantic Sun Men’s Basketball Championship, will face Lipscomb, the number four seed, at 9:15 p.m. Thursday in the first round. The game will be the fourth of the day in the first round of the tournament and will be televised on CSS-TV.

Host East Tennessee State University is the number one seed in the tournament and will play Stetson, number eight, in the earlier night game with tip off at 7 p.m. at East Tennessee’s Memorial Coliseum, also know as the Mini Dome.

In the afternoon round on Thursday, #2 Belmont will take on #7 Gardner-Webb at 1 p.m. and #3 Jacksonville will meet #6 Campbell at 3:15 p.m.

The Bears are led by the Atlantic Sun Conference’s leading scorer, freshman point guard James Florence from Marietta. He and fellow guard Shaddean Aaron account for 34 points per game of the Bears’ scoring.
 
In round two on Friday, the Mercer-Lipscomb winner will meet the ETSU-Stetson winner at 7 p.m. and the Jacksonville-Campbell winner will meet the Belmont-Gardner-Webb winner at 9:15 p.m.
