Gary Richardson, the Benjamin W. Griffith Jr. Professor and Chair of English, and teacher of Mercer University's "Harry Potter and 20th Century Fantasy" course, is featured in a recent article. Click here to view the article.

Richardson’s course, “Harry Potter and 20th Century Fantasy,” teaches students to look with a critical eye on J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, as well as 20th century fantasy icons J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis and Ursula K. Le Guin.  Richardson began his study of the Potter books when his children took an interest in them when the series began 10 years ago and over the life of the series he has taught students who grew up with the series and with Pottermania.
