Mercer University Students Returning to The Classroom For 2008-2009

Mercer students return to the classroom this week to begin the 2008-2009 academic year at all six locations.

In Macon, new students were welcomed to the University community on Move-In Day, Saturday, Aug. 16. Classes for the campus begin on Tuesday, Aug. 19. The University’s new provost, Wallace L. Daniel, Ph.D., kicked off the new academic year on Monday, delivering the keynote address for Fall Convocation.

The School of Medicine welcomed 60 new Doctor of Medicine students to its Macon campus on Saturday, Aug. 16, with its traditional White Coat Ceremony. Classes for the School began Monday. In Savannah, Sunday, Aug. 17, marked the beginning of the year for 30 new Doctor of Medicine students on the University’s newest campus during its first White Coat Ceremony at Memorial University Medical Center.

The Walter F. George School of Law held introductory classes on Monday, Aug. 18, as well. The School will begin regular classes on Aug. 25.

In Atlanta, students on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus started the new year with a picnic on Monday, Aug. 18.

Students at the Regional Academic Centers in Douglas County, Eastman, Macon and Henry County, as well as the Atlanta campus, began classes Monday, Aug. 18.
