College of Pharmacy Faculty Produce Largest Number of Accepted Abstracts for National Meeting on Teaching

ATLANTA — Faculty from Mercer University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences had a record number of poster abstracts accepted for the upcoming American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy annual meeting. Mercer faculty will present 19 posters, and the School’s Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning a 20th, the highest number accepted among all schools participating.

“We are extremely proud of our faculty, whose excellent scholarship, and teaching innovations have been recognized in this distinction,” said Dr. Candace Barnett, senior associate dean and professor at the College. “This achievement clearly reflects the College’s emphasis on the scholarship of teaching.”

The meeting will be held in Seattle July 10-14. The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy is a national organization representing the interests of pharmacy education and educators. It is composed of 120 accredited colleges and schools of pharmacy including more than 5,900 faculty, 54,700 students enrolled in professional programs and 5,400 individuals pursuing graduate study. Its annual meeting explores new developments in pharmacy education and practice and provides attendees with the tools, programs and services to prepare the next generation of pharmacists, educators and pharmaceutical scientists.

About the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Mercer University
Founded in 1903, the independent Southern School of Pharmacy merged with Mercer University in 1959.
