Mercer to Unveil New Newnan Regional Academic Center Today

NEWNAN — Mercer University will celebrate its new Regional Academic Center on Tuesday with an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 4:30 p.m. Among those expected to be in attendance are President William D. Underwood, Board of Trustees chairman and Newnan resident Judge Homer Drake, senior University administrators and faculty and students from Mercer in Newnan, as well as Newnan community leaders.

The center began classes in August with three degree programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Education in early care and education and early childhood/special education from the Tift College of Education and the Bachelor of Science in Social Science in Public Safety from the College of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Mercer’s new center is located within the Central Educational Center at 160 Martin Luther King Dr. in Newnan.

Following the ribbon cutting, Mercer staff members will lead tours of the Mercer areas of the facility and be available to answer questions.
