MACON – Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-2012 Broadway Series, titled “Destination: Broadway,” at The Grand Opera House, a performing arts center of Mercer University. Featuring a four-show Broadway Series, with the option to add two additional Broadway shows, the 2011-2012 season subscriptions can be purchased through Mercer Ticket Sales at (478) 301-5470 or Online at The Grand’s Web site www.TheGrandMacon.com. Filled with Tony Award-winners and audience favorites, this spectacular season brings another year of incredible entertainment and features new and familiar titles, including some of Broadway’s hottest tickets. Season packages start at just $96 and offer the flexibility of payment plans. Season subscribers receive discount tickets to the Broadway Series, priority seating and the exclusive opportunity to purchase advance, discount tickets to Variety Series shows before tickets go on sale to the public, among other benefits.

“The new season is quite diverse and exciting,” said Betsy Fitzgerald, executive director of The Grand Opera House. “In addition to our outstanding Broadway series, our Variety Series features a selection of performances that will appeal to the entire community.  We are also thrilled to bring back John Berry for his annual Christmas program, which is not to be missed!”

The Broadway Series includes the winner of the 2001 Tony Award for Best Special Theatrical Event,“Blast!” Oct. 3-4, which features 35 brass, percussion and visual performers; the greatest visually spectacular production combining astounding Chinese acrobatics, fast-paced action, and contemporary staging, “Cirque Shanghai Bai Xi,” Nov. 19-20; the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards, “In the Heights,” Jan. 25-26; and the seven-time Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, “Damn Yankees,” April 7 and 9.

Two additional Broadway Specials include the return of the internationally acclaimed Beatles concert, “Rain” Nov. 1-2, and the Tony Award-winning musical that is a timeless classic, “Fiddler on the Roof,” March 20-21.

The Grand’s 2011-2012 Variety Series features critically-acclaimed artists, exciting new shows and annual favorites, including: “Sphinx,” Sept. 19; “Miracle on 34th Street,” Dec. 19; “John Berry – The Christmas Concert,” Dec. 22; and “Gazillion Bubbles” Jan. 17; “The Magic School Bus,” Feb. 6; “Of Mice & Men,” Feb. 13; “The Official Blues Brothers Revue,” Feb. 24; “Russian National Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet,” March 4; “Girl’s Night – The Musical,” March 23-24; and “One Night of Queen,” April 19.
