ATLANTA/MACON/SAVANNAH – Mercer University’s Executive Forum, presented by BB&T, on April 30 will feature three panel discussions across the state titled “The Future of Health Care in Georgia.” The events will begin in Atlanta and conclude in Savannah, with a stop in Macon. The panel is comprised of CEOs Tim Stack of Piedmont Healthcare in Atlanta, Don Faulk of Central Georgia Health System in Macon and Maggie Gill of Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah. The Health Care Forum is sponsored by MedAssets and Navigant Healthcare and will be moderated by Mercer President William D. Underwood.
The Atlanta event is a breakfast presentation at the Capital City Club at 8 a.m. The discussion moves to Macon for a lunch presentation at 12:30 p.m. in the University Center on Mercer’s Macon campus and concludes in Savannah with an evening presentation at 5:30 p.m. in the Mercer Auditorium of the Hoskins Center for Biomedical Research at Memorial. A reception will follow the evening presentation.
Stack has served as president and CEO of Piedmont Healthcare since December 2001. Under his leadership, Piedmont Hospital was named “Best in Atlanta for Overall Cardiac Care and Cardiac Surgery” in 2008 and 2009 by HealthGrades, a leading health care ratings company, as well as one of the nation’s “Most Wired” hospitals for five consecutive years in the 100 Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study. Stack previously served as president and CEO of Borgess Health Alliance and was president and CEO of Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Bethany College and a master’s degree in hospital administration from the Medical College of Virginia.
Faulk became president and CEO of Central Georgia Health System in 1997, overseeing The Medical Center of Central Georgia, as well as Central Georgia Health Ventures, Health Services of Central Georgia and Carlyle Place. During his tenure, CGHS opened a new Cancer Life Resource Center, the Pine Pointe Hospice of Central Georgia and the Albert Luce Heart Institute. A native of Macon, Faulk began at the Medical Center as personnel director in 1974, serving in positions of progressive responsibility spanning almost 40 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech and a master’s degree in health care administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
Gill joined MUMC as vice president of finance/managed care in 2004. She became COO in 2005 and was named president and CEO of Memorial in 2011. Gill oversees and provides leadership for all vice presidents, senior vice presidents and physician leaders at MUMC. Before joining MUMC, she spent five years as CFO at Tenet South Florida Health System. Gill received the Tenet Outstanding CFO award three times. She earned a bachelor’s degree with honors at Florida State University and an MBA with honors at St. Leo University in Florida. Gill also completed course work at The Wharton School in strategic thinking and management.
